I wasn't looking for anything in particular when I arrived in Samarkand. Yet, there was something indefinable in the air. An enveloping softness, fabrics in powdery hues, precious materials bathed in light... I left this city with a memory impossible to pack in a suitcase. So I imagined it as a fragrance.
